Iron Ore

GovTec is focused primarily in the supply of iron ore pellets for export sales around the world, due to the higher productivity gains the product offers.

Brazil's demand for iron ore is concentrated in fines and lump ore in view of the nature of the country's steel industry, which is highly concentrated in blast furnace production. The use of pellets is still limited due to its higher price.

GovTec provides an opportunity for our network of Brazilian iron ore producers, given their competitive advantage of producing low cost slabs.

A study by the BNDES's Mining and Metallurgy Department entitled "The Rise of Minimills in International Steel Industry" published in BNDES Sector Review, No. 12, focuses on the development of Brazils technological process and worldwide competitiveness.
